A NOTE FROM THE STAFF
A little about me
Hi! I’m the creator of NookCraft. I was born and raised in El Salvador, and I’ve always been into video games, sports, board games, and pretty much anything that lets you be a little creative.
I’m also one of those people who constantly has new ideas. A lot of them never make it much further than the “that would be cool” stage — but NookCraft was one I decided to actually give a shot.
It started really simply. I enjoyed having ambience videos playing on YouTube while I worked, relaxed, or played games, but I always wished I had more control. Maybe I loved the background but didn’t want the music, or I wanted rain without the fireplace, or I just wanted to create my own combination without ads interrupting everything.
So I started building a little app with backgrounds and separate audio controls.
Then I thought, “It would be cool if it could do this…”
And then something else.
And then something else.
Before I knew it, that simple ambience idea had grown into NookCraft.
I’m still building it the same way today: experimenting, adding things I think would be fun, and seeing where the idea takes me. My biggest hope is simply that you enjoy using it — whether NookCraft becomes a place where you focus, read, relax, play, or just spend some time creating a cozy little corner of your own.
Meet Smokey & Bandido
And yes, the cats are real!
My wife and I adopted Smokey and Bandido during the COVID pandemic. We were spending a lot of time in our apartment and wanted a little companion, so originally we planned on adopting one cat.
When we spoke with their previous owner, though, we found out Smokey and Bandido were the last two siblings left from their litter.
We couldn't bring ourselves to separate them.
So… we came home with two cats. 😄
Smokey and Bandido have been part of our family ever since, and they've ended up becoming a surprisingly big part of NookCraft too. If you've spent any time exploring the app, you've probably already noticed their influence.
A lot of the cats, little details, Easter eggs, and ideas throughout NookCraft are inspired by these two.
So in a way, NookCraft isn't just a project I built. It's a collection of things I enjoy, things that make home feel cozy, and two cats who accidentally became its unofficial mascots.
Thanks for giving my little idea a chance. I hope you have as much fun using NookCraft as I've had building it. ❤️
